William Randolph Smith, 54, of Petal, died March 10, 2018, at Merit Health Wesley. There will be a visitation on March 17, 2018, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Petal, from 10 a.m. until the memorial service at 11:30 a.m.

Mr. Smith began his career with Colonial Pipeline Company in January of 1990. Beginning as a technician in Collins, MS and quickly moving into leadership positions. He was a Project Manager for the Pelham, AL tank farm then moved back to Collins, MS where he became the Southeast District Environmental Manager and worked on compliance and emergency response leadership teams.

Prior to his 27 year long career with Colonial, Randy served as Youth Pastor at Seminary United Methodist Church, Youth Pastor at Petal United Methodist Church, worked as a technician at Commercial Communications, and worked at Baggett A/C and Heat.

He enjoyed fishing, grilling, traveling with his family, being outdoors, and sports. He loved Petal Panthers, USM Golden Eagles, Mississippi Braves, and the New Orleans Saints. Throughout his life he has touched many by volunteering his time with several community events and projects, including Relay for Life, coaching recreational soccer, teaching Sunday School, serving others with missional work, serving on several committees at Petal United Methodist Church and Asbury United Methodist Church, and singing with his family Christian music group Kinfolk and with the Asbury Praise Team.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, William S. Smith and Billie Sue Stringer Smith; and a brother, Ben Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Tracy Smith; daughter, Kimberly Smith Thomas (William); brothers, Mike Smith and Jeff Smith; sisters, Pam Bennett and Loraine Smith; his mother-in-law, DeLana Ott; God-daughters, Sarai Grace, Juli Anna, and Emma Leigh Stanford; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
