Veterans Day at Raleigh Elementary School
Raleigh Elementary students honored the Veterans on Veterans Day, November 11, 2011, with songs, poems and a special tribute. The ceremony began with a march with veterans following students carrying flags representing branches in the military. The Woodmen of the World presented Larecia Wedgeworth, Principal, with a flag dedicated to Raleigh Elementary. Kindergarteners, first graders and third graders sang, while the Beta Club members presented, “I am the American Flag.” Sixth grade students with active duty siblings and parents presented, “H is for Honor.” Second graders read a poem entitled“We thank you”. The fifth grade students filed on to the football field to release balloons into the air after the entire school sang, “One Nation”, directed by Jennifer Hutchinson. The morning schedule ended with two shouts from the students, “Thank you. We love you.” More photos on page 4.
