The Raleigh Heritage Festival will be Saturday, September 24, in Raleigh. The day’s events begin with a 5K run/walk at Raleigh UMC. There will be arts/crafts booths, food, and information booths available along with a magic show. There will be a car, truck show and antique tractors, engines and a “Model A” exhibit., pony rides, a train ride, super slide. and a wrestling event. There will also be entertainment and political speaking throughout the day.

There is no admission. Events begin at 7 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m.

The Smith County Cruisers will host the annual car & truck show from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Awards will be presented to the Top 15 Cars, Top 10 Trucks, Top 10 Pre ’49 , Top 3 Race Car, Top 3 ’90 Model & Up, Best Project, Best of Show Car, Truck and Pre ’49, Best Club Participation, and Long Distance award.

Dash plaques and goody bags will be given to the first 100 entries. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing.

In the 5k Run and 5K Walk trophies will be given for First Overall, First, Second and Third place for both male and females in age groups of 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over.

In the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk First and Second place trophies will be given to both male and female for age groups of 1-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over.

Pre-registration is $15 and $18 on race day for the 5K Run and 5K Walk and $12 for the Fun Run at the Raleigh United Methodist Church. Race begins at the Courthouse. Make checks payable to Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.

The Mississippi Model A Ford Restorers Club will again celebrate International Model A Day. On display will be the Model T or other old 1920 or early 1930 car or truck in the old automobile display. For information call 601-782-4339.
